If you’re interested in chess lessons in the D. C. area, chess clubs after school, my new chess opening book or Japanese chess, you’ll find more about it here.

My chess lessons focus on openings and positional judgement for stronger players, and on basic concepts and review of famous games for the novice. My chess clubs are known for my original handicap system of play.

My new book, The Chess Advantage in Black and White, just published by Random House, uses the latest games and computer analysis to demonstrate how you can maximize your winning chances from the opening.

Finally, you’ll find much information about Japanese chess. While chess is my profession, Shogi is my hobby, and I have been the top-ranked non-Japanese player for the past 20 years. Take a stroll through my site and find out more about whichever of these topics interests you. ~ Larry
